Customer ReviewsRating: 3 out of 5 An Average book This is a brief overview of LDAP services for Solaris based on outdated versions of the directory servers. The biggest player on the market, Active Directory, is not really covered well, neither Sun MetaDirectory. It could be a starting point, but you can get almost the same info for free by spending a couple hours browsing Sun web site. This is a formal side, but there is also an informal one. Some books give you a feeling of the subject. You get some understanding and vision. This is not that kind of books. It looks like it was done but cutting and pasting from some other publications, lots of good pieces, but they don't really make up a completed puzzle. Rating: 3 out of 5 ... Great reference book to look up how ldap work and its relation between other naming services. But not practical, especially when it used the old iPlanet directory server 4.11 version as example while the 5.0 is already out when the book is written. Overall its a good book. Rating: 3 out of 5 not in great details didnot covered in a great and good details. Schema management and creation is very short. does not cover authentication process and configuring clients, such as gateway services.
