Customer ReviewsRating: 5 out of 5 Great starter for Linux This should be a good book to get someone with a Windows background going on Linux - covers all the basics. Rating: 5 out of 5 Perfect UNIX boodk for beginners It's actually one of the best books that is now available in the market about Linux. It's great, teaches you commands that you can never find on your own. Besides it's really fun to read. It's examples are perfect, and you keep reading it like it's a novel. Only after you finish the book, you come to realize the wealth of knowledge you have obtained. My only problem is with the title. As I could perfectly find my way in GUIs like KDE and Gnome, I was looking for a book like this to teach me commands. It actuallly does this. But if you are very knew to Linux this might not be for you. Because it does not cover GUIs. And therefor you can safly change the title you installing Linux and adminstering UNIX. Botoom line: if you some knowledge about Linux, specially the KDE and Gnome, and want to learn UNIX commands, this book is certainly for you. Rating: 5 out of 5 Easy to Apply I found the McKinnons' approach easy to use and broadly applicable. I can use what I learned here on all Linux distros!
