Rewrite from VB 6 Step by Step
Once i started reading this book, i got the feeling of ' i've seen this before' and yes i've seen this before in the book this writer wrote about Visual Basic 6.0 'Visual basic Step By Step' Same code, same examples even the same sequence of chapters. I'm not sure if i'ts a good by. There seems to be nothing in there about OO programming which is hyped about when you read about vb.net. It's jus procedural programming.

This book is excellent for what it is, a simple book on vb.net. Granted it is on the simple side but points you in directions of experimentation to teach yourself. The book takes you through the basics just so you can get a feel for vb in general and the .net package(more heavily on the vb). It also provides web sites and other references to advance yourself on a certain topic. By no means does this book go indepth on any one topic but touches on many with the hopes you will go elsewhere to advance your knowledge.
An excellent book to get a 'taste' of vb.net.

Not enough .Net framework
This book basically introduces you the the basic building blocks of VB.Net. One of the good things about the book is at the beginning of each chapter it tells you what changed between vb6 and .net. The book is way too basic, especially the first couple of chapters. And the examples are way too watered down. You won't have the knowledge to build anything beyond simple apps. Also the book barely discuses the .Net framework, so I don't much about how it works.
