Customer ReviewsRating: 5 out of 5 A Great Reference for General Information After purchasing the mammoth book, I was curious that it had such a poor review previously. In looking at it myself and using it during gameplay for a few weeks, I have found it to be a useful quick reference guide. Some of the features include:Basic Game Information: Nothin new here. The book that comes with Frontiers has much the same information Class Mastery: Useful for charting out how you want to spend your character's mastery points so that you don't have to back up at high levels. Map: While not very big, the map does point out all major points of interest. Quests: Here is where the book really shines. It covers all class quests to level 20, showing where to find everything and is specific enough to allow you to complete your quests with little difficulty (if you have the right group to kill the quest creatures). It also tells you what each quest gives you for a reward. Extremely useful, especially if you are not familiar with the zones. Epic Quests: While not entirely complete, it will put you on the right path to starting your Epic Quest, and will keep you on the right track. Trade Skills: Good general information on each skill and what you can make for each trade skill level. Items: Good information on many of the items found around Frontiers. Bestiary: Incomplete, but useful when looking for a specific creature. There are other parts to the book, such as character abilities, that I won't cover here. Overall, I think the book is a great source of knowledge for the price (under $20). I know that some won't like it because it doesn't include how to get to level 60 in 10 days or anything like that, but it is not meant to be a "cheat" book. In an online game that changes with every patch, such a "cheat" book would be obsolete within weeks. And yes, you can find most of the information presented within on the Internet for free. However, I prefer to have an on-hand resource for when I can't jump to a computer and look up some quest information, or check out some part of the map. That is why I give it 5 stars for what it is, a great addition to the Everquest experience. Rating: 1 out of 5 An innacurate, poorly organzied waste of money and space!! What happens when you make as strategy guide written by a bunch of people who have never played the game? You get this useless waste of paper. It's, beyond doubt, the WORST strategy guide I've ever purchased.First, it devotes most of its hefty size to loot items, but it's organized so poorly you can't find any particular item unless you go through each page (not alphabetical, but by zone, then by location where you wear item, then alphabetically -- you cant find ANYTHING). To make matters worse, you have a 50-50 chance that whatever you're looking for isn't in there to begin with, because the item listing is so incomplete. Second, what information it does provide is frequently completely inaccurate. It contains many, many major errors in class-mastery requrements and quests. Third, quest information is little more than what the game gives you when you get your quests -- barely an outline, no detail, and certainly no "strategy." This section is also not organized in a way you can quickly find what you're looking for when you're doing quests. Fourth, its bestiary listing all the MOBs along the way, is as woefully incomplete as the item section, and it also lists MOBs by zone, so if you're seeking a particluar MOB, you spend a chunck of time going through each page of that section to find what you're looking for. What this guilde does provide, fairly good crafting information, is certainly not worth the price of this book. I don't know which players they consulted when writing this book, but either they were idiots or they wanted to screw up people who play the game. Although it's the only strategy guide out at the moment, Prima's Frontiers guide is NOT WORTH THE MONEY. It is, for the most part, absolutely useless and has the potential to do serious and irrevokable damage to your character as you play the game, especially in the area of class masteries. This is NOT a book any serious player should purchase, use, or trust.
