Worthless
OK, I should have read the fine print. Nevertheless, I expect cross-platform books for cross-platform software. This book ignores the Mac entirely. I can figure out the Mac commands; that's rarely a problem. But CD won't play on a Mac either, so I have no access to the files I need to follow the procedures explained in the book. What a waste of money!

Good Book for Beginners
There aren't many Carrara books around. In fact, I know of only another book (Carrara for Dummies) by the same author. This is definite better.What is good about this book? For a start, if you are frustrated with the manual that comes with the software, this is a good replacement. It contains more accurate information and useful, easy-to-understand instructions to follow which gets the beginner to learning in no time. But if are not a beginner and have dabbled with the software well, then this is not for you. Many concepts are common to those in the manual just that this book illustrates the concepts better with more accurate details. Would have given five stars if there were more goodies on the CD-ROM. This is a good Carrara total beginner's book... can really learn from this book !!

Excelent book for a beginner and nice tech support
I purchased this book, before it was published, and when it arrived i started for the first time on my 3d adventure, the book is quite compreensive but not imediate, gotta keep your eyes open. But i reached a point when i got to the conclusion that cd wouldn't run on my mac, wrote to IDG and within a week the cd arrived. Excellent service, nice book to start with Congratulations to IDG, got yourselves a new customerIt is a nice to book to start from
