Good coverage of the basics
This book was a good, general introduction to UNIX. I'm writing this to let others know what to expect. The book is presented in a step-by-step format. Every two pages cover a specific lesson. The examples are simple and well explained. The majority of the book covers shell usage/commands. The rest dealing with features of the Solaris GUI. Know that 1/4 of this book is tailored for Solaris. The rest is neutral. Also know that the examples are extremely simple.

must read for beginners
This is a must read for anyone trying to understand the basics of UNIX. The author really made it so easy and I have to say "if you think you can never understand UNIX, this is your saviour".
