Outdated
This book was designed for people taking the GRE before October 2002. The GRE is now very different, and this book does not reflect the change in GRE format. The book is still geared towards students taking the paper based test. It doesn't provide any practical strategies for the computer bsaed test. Also, this book doesn't include any explanation of the new analytical writing section. I gave this book three stars because it does include a very helpful math review. However, if you are not strong in math, you will definately need a book with a more comprehensive math review. The verbal section is good, but you can also find good verbal tips in the Princeton Review and Kaplan books. Until this book is updated, it is probably better to choose an alternative book for your GRE prep.

Very helpful
This book was very helpful in preparing for the GRE. It gives many helpful hints and tips for avoiding traps on the test. If you already know the math and want a quick refresher, this book is perfect. The verbal section is great too, but you need to have enough time to study the vocab before you take the test, cramming it all a few days before won't help you much with the verbal. The analytical writing section was very helpful too - recommend going through this book and then using the GRE software (you can download it from the GRE website) to become familiar with the format of the test.

Don't bother
I purchased this book last year and found it more annoying than helpful. The author's "cute" rhetoric was more distracting than helpful nor did I find any of her advice all that beneficial. The examples were overly simplistic and did not reflect the difficulty of the test. Her approach is superficial at best and downplays the rigorous nature of the test itself. This book was definitely a waste of money. The Barrons vocabulary list is far superior to anything in "Dummies." I am going with Kaplan this time and anxiously awaiting the new edition of the ETS book.
