Customer ReviewsRating: 4 out of 5 A very well-written book This book was written in 1994, so it sometimes needed to be updated, though the progress of intelligent networks is moving very fast. I still thought this book was very well-written. The author has really a lot of knowledge about the subject and I really learned a lot from it. Although I think you have to be an engineer to get the facts. I really hope there will be more books written from Mr Thorner in the future. Rating: 1 out of 5 Typical Artech House High Price, Low Content There are some really good books on IN. This is not one of them. If you are an engineer, there is a book by Faynberg which is quite good and if you can find a copy of the HP book on IN, it is an excellent, but dated reference. If you are in management or marketing, go to Stratus, Lucent, Nortel and HP and get a copy of their white papers and overviews. In my experience, Artech House is famous for being first to market with a book on new technical areas. Unfortunately, I think that they are also worst to market. Their marketing strategy is to charge a very high price for the book (since it is the only reference on the market) and expect to be clobbered after more valuable references become available. You're better off not to waste your time - go for IEEE publications if the subject is too new to have a good text.
